Wednesday 14
Schubert-Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus
The Prime Time International series presents international soloists. The opening concert features the Ukrainian violinist Dmytro Udovychenko at the Wiener Konzerthaus. Udovychenko is the winner of the 2024 Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition, one of the world’s most renowned violin competitions. With this concert, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra introduces another internationally significant soloist to Vienna for the first time.
The musical concept of the evening combines works from the Viennese Classical tradition with compositions from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Alongside Joseph Haydn, works by Wilhelm Kienzl, Herbert Willi and Maurice Ravel are performed, offering contrasting stylistic perspectives within the orchestral framework.
The concert is conducted by Harald Krumpöck, with whom the Vienna Chamber Orchestra has an established collaboration. Krumpöck works regularly with Austrian orchestras and is known for his clear programming focus at the intersection of classical repertoire and twentieth-century music.
