Biography
Conductor Stephan Frucht is rarely seen live on stage. However, through his numerous recordings with renowned orchestras and soloists, he has long attracted international at-tention. His recording with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra was awarded the OPUS Klassik in 2019 as the best concert recording.
His discography includes numerous radio recordings and CDs, which he has produced for Sony Music, Haenssler Classics, and Edel Music. His musical partners include the radio or-chestras in Munich, Berlin, and Leipzig, as well as the Karajan Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Bavarian State Orchestra, Deutsches Sym-phonieorchester Berlin, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic, Zurich Opera House, Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, as well as orches-tras in China and the USA. He collaborates with soloists such as Albrecht Mayer, Daniel Hope, Daniel Müller-Schott, Christoph Eschenbach, Lars Vogt, Bomsori Kim, Maximilian Hornung, Anthony McGill or Rolando Villazon.
His concerts have also recently received significant coverage, including performances at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. Frucht began violin lessons at the age of five. At eight, he made his debut with a violin concerto by Vivaldi. He later studied at the Berlin University of the Arts in the master class of Thomas Brandis. After receiving his violin diploma, he began conducting studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin.
For his musical work, Frucht has received numerous awards and scholarships, including from the competition of the Berlin radio stations, the Richard Wagner Association, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the Karl Flesch Academy. He is an honorary professor at the Karlsruhe University of Music and regularly teaches at the Harvard Kennedy School in the USA. In addition, he holds numerous honorary positions, such as at the Bayreuth Festival, the Berlin State Opera, and the Karajan Academy. Since 2015, he has also been the artistic director of the Siemens Arts Program.
After 2024, the concert in 2026 is the second performance by Maestro Frucht in Varna.
