Biography

Winner of the Yehudi Menuhin Competition 2012 Chen Chuan, born in 1985 in Changchun of Jilin Province in China, began his childhood in playing guitar at age of 8 with the help of his father Chen xuhong, a well-known guitar teacher in Jilin province. In 1995, Chen Chuan got a chance to become a student of Professor Chen Zhi, a famous international guitarist and artist in Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) in China. In 1997, Chen Chuan entered the Middle School attached to CCOM to receive his further cultural study which plays an important role in developing himself into a guitarist with good quality. Six years later, Chen Chuan who was admitted into CCOM began his college life and got more care and professional guide from Professor Chen and other international guitarists, such as Michael Lewin, dean of guitar department of Royal Academy of Music, Roland Dyens, a famous guitarist and composer from France, Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, Fukuda Shin-ichi, a well-known guitarist in Japan and Sharon Isbin. And Chen Chuan also has done more practice crazily with his talents and his dreams. More pains, more gains. In 2002, Chen took the second place in the 5th Vienna Forum Youth Guitar Competition and took the first place in the 4th Hong Kong International Guitar Competition. In 2011, Chen took the first place in the 2nd Barrios WorldWideWeb Competition. In 2012, Chen acted as the guitar accompaniment in the Menuhin Competition Beijing 2012. As the chief of GFCP of CCOM, Chen’s performances in Guitar solo, Duo and quartet are widely praised by Professor Chen and other international guitarist at home and abroad, such as: Vienna, Germany, America and in many cities in China.
