Biography
Born in Vienna in 1983, Michael Bednarik received his early training at the Musikgymnasium Wien. From 1997 to 1999, he studied at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK) with Professor Karl Brugger. He then continued his studies in concert performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), where he studied with Professor Pomberger and graduated with distinction in 2008.
During and after his studies, he worked as an orchestral musician with several leading Austrian ensembles, including the Vienna State Opera, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the Vienna Volksoper, the Theater Klagenfurt, and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. He further refined his artistic skills through masterclasses with Hans Gansch and Håkan Hardenberger.
A strong focus of his artistic work lies in contemporary music, with collaborations in ensembles such as Ensemble Collage, Ensemble 20. Jahrhundert, and Ensemble reconsil. Alongside his ensemble and orchestral activities, he has also appeared as a soloist in Austria and abroad, performing in venues such as the Vienna Musikverein (Brahms Hall and Golden Hall), the Casino Baden, and in Taiwan.
