Johanna Berki

Johanna Berki has been active as a singer since childhood and gained early stage experience both in Austria and abroad. Her great passion, alongside opera and operetta, is art song and oratorio. She won the prima la musica competition in Lower Austria in the solo singing category two years in a row. She studied dance at the Performing Center Austria and continues to train in jazz and musical theatre dance, tap and ballet.

While still at school, she studied voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Sebastian Vittucci, and later at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz with Ulrike Sych. During this time, Kurt Widmer became an important musical mentor. After completing her studies, she began an intensive artistic collaboration with Carol Blaickner-Mayo in Vienna. Her solo career has taken her to performances in Germany, France, Italy and Japan.

In June 2021 she began working with ORF III in the editorial team of the programme Erlebnis Bühne with Barbara Rett. Since June 2022 she has been active as a presenter and producer for ORF III, regularly hosting Erlebnis Bühne and creating behind-the-scenes features for Kultur heute about current music theatre productions.
