Biografie
Jeremias Fliedl is among Austriaâs most prominent cellists. He has appeared at leading festivals and in major venues, including the Salzburg Festival, Mozartwoche Salzburg, Schubertiade Hohenems, Festspiele Mecklenburg Vorpommern, Carinthian Summer, the SĂŒdtirol Festival Meran, Classix Kempten, Musiktage Mondsee, the Vevey Spring Classic Festival, the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht, Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, the Viotti Festival, the Lake District Summer Music Festival, the Salzkammergut Festwochen Gmunden, as well as the Festival St. Gallen. His concert venues include the Vienna Musikverein, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Palais des Beaux Arts Brussels, the Dortmund Konzerthaus, and Hamburgâs Laeiszhalle.
As a chamber musician, he has performed with, among others, Petrit Ăeku, Veronika Eberle, Karen Gomyo, Ariane Haering, Ziyu He, Maximilian Kromer, Matthew Lipman, Gerhard Marschner, Callum McLachlan, Nikola Meeuwsen, Nils Mönkemeyer, Daniel MĂŒller Schott, Benedict Mitterbauer, Julian Rachlin, Timothy Ridout, Linus Roth, Benjamin Schmid, the Simply Quartet, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Kiron Atom Tellian, Dimitry Udovichenko, and Dominik Wagner.
As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras such as the Brussels Philharmonic, Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, Bremer Philharmoniker, Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, the Danish Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, the WĂŒrttemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, Salzburg Orchestra Soloists, Zagreb Soloists, Zagreb Chamber Orchestra, Beethoven Philharmonie, Matrix Orchestra, Changsha Symphony Orchestra, the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra, Academia Ars Musicae, the Austrian Korean Philharmonic, Euro Symphony SFK, the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra Olsztyn, and the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra.
He has worked with conductors including StĂ©phane DenĂšve, ĂdĂĄm Fischer, Martin Haselböck, Thomas Sanderling, and Case Scaglione. In the 2025/26 season he makes debut appearances with the Wiener KammerOrchester, Orchestra della Toscana, the Orchestre National de Lyon, and the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and appears for the first time under Joji Hattori, Thomas Guggeis, and PrzemysĆaw Neumann.
In 2024, his debut album TRANSFORMATION was released to strong critical acclaim, with reviews including âa splendid feast of cello timbresâ (BBC Music Magazine), âbrilliantâ (Die Presse), and âtechnically brilliant and with remarkable musical maturityâ (Concerti). The album was recorded with the WĂŒrttemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn conducted by Emmanuel Tjeknavorian and released on the Berlin Classics label.
Born in 1999 in Klagenfurt, Jeremias Fliedl received his first training with Igor Mitrovic, and his artistic development was shaped decisively by Heinrich Schiff, as Schiffâs last student at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He completed his Bachelorâs degree with Clemens Hagen at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and his Masterâs degree with Julian Steckel at the University of Music and Theatre Munich. He also received important artistic impulses from Daniel MĂŒller Schott and Michael Sanderling. He is a prizewinner of the Liezen Competition, the SvirĂ©l Competition, and the Antonio Janigro Competition, and was the first Austrian cellist to become a laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition.
