Tenor David Fischer has been a member of the ensemble of Deutsche Oper am Rhein since 2019. In the current season he makes his role debut there as Kudrjaš in Leoš Janáček’s Kát’a Kabanová. At his home theatre and at major venues such as the Salzburg Festival, the Semperoper Dresden, and Oper Leipzig, he appears in the leading roles of his repertoire, including Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Lensky in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Cassio in Verdi’s Otello, Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and the Steersman in Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman. In October 2025 he also returned to the Theater an der Wien as Alfred in Johann Strauss’ Die Fledermaus.
His concert season opens with Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang under Philippe Herreweghe in Switzerland, followed by a European tour of Bach’s Christmas Oratorio under Christoph Prégardien. After a CD recording of Brahms songs, further engagements include a Haydn programme at the Vienna Konzerthaus, Mozart’s Requiem at the Berlin Philharmonie under Jordi Savall, Mozart’s Mass in C minor at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, and Haydn’s Stabat Mater in Utrecht and at Geneva’s Victoria Hall. The season concludes with Bach’s Mass in B minor at the Bachfest Leipzig.
David Fischer has collaborated with conductors including Joana Mallwitz, Teodor Currentzis, Ádám Fischer, Tarmo Peltokoski, and René Jacobs. He has performed with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, appearing in leading European halls and undertaking tours across Europe and Asia. He has been invited to the Salzburg Festival on several occasions, further highlighting his international profile.
Recordings featuring works such as Bach’s St John Passion, Mendelssohn’s Walpurgis Night, and Mozart’s Mass in C minor document his artistic work. In the field of song he has appeared, among others, at Switzerland’s Festival classique des Haudères, in Geneva, and at the Bonn Schumann Festival. In 2022 he made his debut at the Schaffhausen Master Concerts with Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin, a cycle he also presented in 2024 at the Weilburg Palace Concerts.
