Biografie
He was born in Venezuela and began his music studies at the Vicente Emilio Sojo Conservatory. He studied with Professor William Alvarado and later continued his training with Alfredo Kraus.
In 1996 he made his debut in Caracas in L’elisir d’amore, and in the same year his European debut followed with Macbeth at the Teatro Pérez Galdós in Gran Canaria.
Since then, his career has continuously evolved, with performances in some of the most prestigious opera houses worldwide, including Teatro Nacional de SĂŁo Carlos in Lisbon, Arena di Verona, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Regio di Parma, Opera di Roma, Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid, Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Staatsoper Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Vienna State Opera, Zurich Opera House, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and Teatro alla Scala in Milan, among many others.
Throughout his career he has performed under the baton of conductors such as Plácido Domingo, Jesús López Cobos, Riccardo Chailly, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Daniel Barenboim, James Conlon, Gustavo Dudamel, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Juanjo Mena and Nicola Luisotti.
His repertoire focuses mainly on French and Italian opera.
He has recorded a wide range of performances, from bel canto to traditional music, including Bellini’s Norma with soprano Edita Gruberova and Maestro Friedrich Haider, Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Arena di Verona, Isaac Albéniz’s opera Henry Clifford with the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Verdi’s I Masnadieri in Naples conducted by Nicola Luisotti, Verdi’s Requiem under Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and Puccini’s La Bohème conducted by Riccardo Chailly at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia.
